Flickr, if you're listening, you're having a real signal-to-noise problem lately, and it's becoming more severe with every passing day. Yes there's a lot of below average photography on the site, but it's becoming increasingly hard to sort the good photography from the better than average Midjourney- or Stable Diffusion-type content.

-Flickr has great privacy controls for galleries and individual images, so you can control who can see what. They're also not afraid of risque content that's been problematic on other sites. -Unlimited uploads. -I can upload once to Flickr then pretty much cross-post it wherever else I like on the internet without having to worry about it.

Flickr takes photography more seriously than Instagram; it doesn’t lossily recompress your photos to save storage, it has groups and albums, and it is open from the web.

I think that’s one of the things Flickr is still good at. It looks decent, you can create galleries to easily showcase certain images together, and you can post links to your photos pretty much anywhere - so you can still share things on Facebook, Reddit, etc.

I use flickr for several purposes all worth the effort for me:- Sharing my work for others to see Creating ideas/albums that can only exist online Backing up anything that has become a jpeg Curating others work into collections, to scratch my own creative itch I curate my public work heavily, even though few see the work in the order I intend it.

Flickr would not upload from Web interface on my Win11 PC since last year. I use Capture One so I need to use my PC to post process the photos. The Upload time out both on Web interface and the PC Flickr Uploadr. Fortunately I have found a solution and I managed to upload 400 photos at high speed last night. The solution is very simple. What platform would you recommend just to display photos, not sell?
I use Flickr exclusively, it's great for web-based but if people try to view on mobile it kinda sucks. They have to make an account to download full res so it can be annoying for others.
